As you may have guessed from the title, this post is all about Hetalia!!! If you don't get the pasta refrence you need to to over to: Axis Powers Hetalia and watch it. The episodes are only 5 minutes long!
This post inparticular is how I feel about the Hetalia English Voice cast! I will be showing some pictures and some videos so sit back, relax and enjoy!!!!
Since the end of Anime Expo 2 weeks ago Funimation, the American company that has licensed the Axis Powers Hetalia anime, has been slowly releasing the English voice actors and actress for the many countries in Hetalia and as of this post all the voices are out!
I am going to list the rest of the world with their flag then the Axis followed by the Alies. I will also include any information I have as well as my opinion.
Austria will be voiced by Chuck Huber
I can not argue with this choice. He has a wide range of voices and I think he will go a good job bringing out Austria's plays piano when angry personality!
Belarus will be voiced by Monica Rial
I am impartial to her doing Belarus. I know Belarus has a low rough 'merry merry' sounding voice and I believe that Monica's voice is just a tad too high pitched for this Russia stalking country.
Chibitalia is voiced by Brina Palencia
She has a sweet voice I think would work for the this cute little early nation still under the watch of Austria.
\
Cuba is voiced by Bob Carter
I can honestly say I have not heard enough of his voice to know if he would be good for Cuba or not.
Egypt is voiced by Scott Sagar
He is also the ADR Directer for Hetalia so it will be interesting to hear him in the booth.
Estonia is voiced by Mike McFarland
I personal think he is a good choice. He has a high pitched enough of a voice to sound scared but not as scared at Latvia or Lithuania. Mike is also the Line producer for Hetalia.
Finland is voiced by Clint Bickham
This is another voice I have not heard much of.
Greece is voiced by Vic Mignogna
This may have shocked or upset many fans. Fans seem to be split with Vic, either you like him or you don't. I personally am not very happy with Funimation's choice to cast Vic as Greece.
Holy Roman Empire is voiced by Chris Cason
This is an interesting cast. HRE is so cute and yet Funimation cast Chris who also does Gluttony's voice in the Fullmetal Alchemist series.
Hungary is voiced by Luci Christian
I think this is a wonderful fit for this lovely country. I think she has the right kind of voice to sound sweet yet athoritive.
Latvia is voiced by Ryan Reynolds
Poor poor scared little Lavtia. He tries so hard to not get on Russia's bad side, too bad Russia likes to pic on him. According to ANN this is Ryan's first voice over, I am excited to hear it. Fresh meat!
Liechtenstein is voiced by Cherami Leigh
A young lady with a range of voices. I'm she will keep the cute factor happily in tack as she voices Switzerland's favorite girl.
Lithuania is voiced by Josh Grelle
Our Baltic trio is now complete. He seems like he has a level headed voice for a kind of level headed nation. I would say he is in between Estonia and Latvia when it comes to dealing with Russia.
Poland is voiced by Ryan Bijan
Like OMG this is his fist voice. I so can't wait to like here it! Love you Poland! (I'm Polish)
Prussia is voiced by Johhnan Brooks
He has done a lot of side characters in other stories and technically Prussia is a side character but he is so popular and loved by the fan base that I hope he can live up to Ore-sama's name.
Rome is voiced by Chris Sabat
Not going to lie here I am excited for his voice!! I think he will make an excellent papa Rome!!!
Sealand is voiced by Maxey Whitehead
We all know her as the voice of Alfonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and I think she is a perfect fit for this cute little island on stilts country.
Spain is voiced by Dave Trosko
I know some people who will be disappointed if he sound Mexican and not Spanish in the English dub, including myself. Dave has done a handful of small parts.
Switzerland is voiced by John Burgmeier
I am on the line on this voice actor. He also does Shigure's voice in Fruits Basket so I am not so sure.
Ukraine is voiced by Lydia Mackay
A lovely lady with a smooth voice I think she can fill our well endowed countrie's shoes very well.
Romano is voiced by Ian Sinclair
Ian has done a lot of small roles as well as a few lead roles. It will be exciting to hear how he pulls of this Italy raised by the siesta loving Spain!
I have not heard the above voices yet so I am with holding any judgment until I have heard the voices.
Now for the AXIS POWERS!
Germany is voiced by Patrick Seitz
When I first heard that Patrick is doing Germany's voice I was weary. Thanks to Funimation's posting a sample of Germany's voice I can say that I love it! He sound German speaking English not some American trying to sound German! Here is a sample of his voice:
Germany English Voice
Japan is voiced by Chris Bevins
Again not a voice I would pic to be Japan but he works rather well for this island nation who has the technology to help Germany and Italy in WWII. Here is a video clip:
Japan English Voice
Italy is voiced by Todd Habercorn
I admit I was nervous about who is voice actor would be, Italy is the main character after! When I found out who would be voicing him I was outwardly hated this announcement! I thought that Todd would be awful at Italy!! I was reluctant to even load the video clip so I could hear his voice. When I did eventually did load the clip I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say that I am thrilled but I don't hate it. He works for Italy. Here is a video clip:
And now on the ALLIES!!
America is voiced by Eric Vale
Now you would think it would be easy to cast America, he is America after all and we live in America but he needs to sound American as odd as that sounds. He can't sound like a southern, Texan, New Yorker or like a Californian. Eric Vale pulls it off very well! He also sounds slightly annoying like America is in Hetalia and even sound s bit like the Japanese Seiyuu which is a bonus for many people! Here is a video clip: America English Voice
England is voiced by Scott Freeman
He sounds like England. That is all there is to it. He sounds like England from Hetalia! I have no complaints.
Here is a video clip: England English Voice
France is voiced by J. Michael Tatum
Another surprising voice cast that works well. He sound French speaking English which is a good thing at to lend to the authenticity? of the show. Here is a video clip: France English Voice
Russia is voiced by Jerry Jewell
The fangirl in me comes out 3 fold here!! I am already a fan of Russia and Jerry Jewell and that fact that he voices Russia just makes me I don't know freakishly excited!!! He pulls off a good thick Russian accent and sound natural at it!!!! I haven't heard him 'kol' yea though I am sure you will hear my squees of delight when I do!! Here is a video clip: Russia English Voice
China is voiced by Clarine Harp
Clarine does a good job voiced the oldest country. She sounds very much like a male, which is good as China is male. At fist I thought Funimation had cast a guy but props to Clarine to for pulling off a believable guy! Here is a video clip: China English Voice
Here have a spiffy trailer that features a UN meeting!
UN Meeting, Hetalia Style!
All in all I am VERY happy with Funimation's choices of voice actores and actresses. They said they listened to the fans and I believe they did. This is a unique series with a unique fanbase, we are passionate about our countries! The first 26 episodes are on sale at September 19 2010. I've pre-ordered my copy have you??
All the clips belong to Funimation. blog.funimation.com
Until tomorrow!!!!
OH! It seems I have forgotten a nation!!!
Canada is voiced by Eric Vale
This made me VERY happy! In the Japanese language version of Hetalia the same person who voiced America also does Canada's voice. It makes sense Canada is America brother! I hope Eric
Vale can sound as cutely pathetic as the Japanese Seiyuu does!
Here is another funny video!! Funny Video
Until tomorrow for real this time!!!
P.S. sorry about the not so good pictures..my camera was just NOT cooperating with me!
